Anemones at kibune Shrine

Kibune Shrine is high in the northeastern mountains that enclose the Kyoto basin. Built on the mountainside, below it is a narrow gorge and all around are tall cypress trees. Here and there, water trickles out from the mountain, and even in the summer months the air is fresh and crisp. Autumn comes early to this area, and is the season when the anemones can be seen growing from the nooks and crannies. The climate in this region is suited to this lovely plant, and because anemones grow so very naturally here, they are known as Kibune chrysanthemums.
