Nippon Shinyaku Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan; President: Shigenobu Maekawa) have launched today “Erizas Nasal Powder 200µg 28 metered spray” which is the product for 28 sprays (14 days) in addition to the first once daily dry powder type steroid nasal spray “Erizas Capsule for Nasal spray 400µg” (generic name: dexamethasone cipecilate) already marketed in Japan.

“Erizas Nasal Powder 200µg 28 metered spray” is a metered-dose nasal spray equipped with counter for checking remaining amount, which contains the amount of steroid as an active ingredient for 14 days.  Since the procedure of capsule setting at each administration of “Erizas Capsule for Nasal spray 400µg” is not required, the convenience is improved.

This product has the following features.
-  It is the first once daily dry powder type steroid nasal spray in Japan.
-  It can improve three nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis (sneezing, nasal discharge, and nasal congestion).
-  It is a dry powder formulation free from preservative, and causes less local irritation and no dripping off from nasal cavities.

Nippon Shinyaku position the otorhinolaryngology as one of their focus targets for R&D and marketing, and are marketing “Erizas Capsule for Nasal spray 400µg”, “Baynas® Tablets”, “Livostin® Nasal Solution 0.025mg 112 metered sprays”, and “Livostin® Eye Drops 0.025%” in the field of allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis such as pollen allergy.

By launching “Erizas Nasal Powder 200µg 28 metered spray”, Nippon Shinyaku expect to contribute more to the treatment of allergic rhinitis by increasing options for the treatment.
